REAR EXTENSION TO A CONVERTED PUB - BEFORE & AFTER

PROJECT : SMALL REAR EXTENSION & INTERNAL ALTERATIONS

CLIENT : COUPLE WITH LARGE EXTENDED FAMILY

With a series of smaller rooms and a dark kitchen that felt very separate from the other living spaces, our brief on this project was to create an open and sociable kitchen and living space. Replacing an old, draughty conservatory with a small extension, opening out the other rooms and using the height of the pitched roof to create a beautiful vaulted ceiling has transformed the ground floor. Filled with light, the new space sits so well looking out over the open countryside views from the back of the house, whilst retaining the exterior character of the existing building.

Have a look at the floor plans for this project HERE, and the photos in our project gallery HERE.

Both us and the client were keen for the new extension to sit harmoniously with the character of the existing house.

A cold draughty conservatory to a warm, light open space.

Changing the existing doors from the lounge to match the new extension has created a much more appealing outdoor seating area.

Removing the wall between the kitchen and dining area and opening up into the vaulted ceiling has transformed this existing space.

Previously a dark space separated from the other living areas, the kitchen now forms the social heart of the ground floor.

Dark and disjointed becomes light and open…

A very narrow doorway through to the back of the house was opened up to create a double door entrance to the new living space.

The old conservatory replaced with the extended dining space, with large bi-fold doors to maximise the countryside views.
