WE DESIGN AND MAKE HIGH-QUALITY, AFFORDABLE KITCHENS AND FURNITURE
Simply speaking, we love what we do. As highly-creative professionals, our unique approach to design and the desire to see outstanding pieces bearing the Nelson Taylor name are what drives us. We use eco-friendly, sustainable materials and specialise in interesting projects that maximise the space you already have rather than automatically recommending expensive, expansive builds. We try to incorporate flexible living spaces that will benefit your lifestyle, such as multi-function rooms, fold-out walls, moveable partitions and ingenious hidden storage.
Our clients are frequently surprised to discover that we are far more affordable than they were expecting. We provide a high-end, creative and personalised service from our office in Farnham and as we don't have the overheads associated with a showroom or additional staff, we can offer highly competitive prices.
As for the future? We will always have a passion for designing individual, unique kitchens, interiors and furniture, but are also currently developing our own Nelson Taylor furniture range that showcases our unique and innovative design. We continually investigate new and innovative materials and are dedicated to seeking out greener solutions for our products. We work with our clients to minimise waste on all our projects and are passionate about sustainability. As part of our focus we are proud to make a monthly donation to The Woodland Trust - the UK's largest woodland conservation charity.
HOW DO WE WORK AND WHO DO WE WORK WITH?
Nelson Taylor proudly offer a smaller, more intimate one-to-one service where we dedicate time to our clients. This doesn’t mean that we will only work on a grand scale though – far from it! We are highly approachable, don’t have a minimum size or budget that we will work with and are equally excited by either end of the budget scale.
We are genuinely passionate about the use of space and actually, it’s not always the bigger spaces that are the ‘easiest’ or even the most fun to work with. We are truly inclusive in our design outlook; we have designed extremely high-spec, expensive projects, but we have also designed regular kitchens and furniture pieces for regular people just like us.
I graduated from Loughborough University in 1998 with a degree in Industrial Design and a Masters in Ergonomics, which is where my desire to not just make a kitchen or piece of furniture look great, but also work practically, comes from. I worked for a number of general design and kitchen design companies and it’s at one of those that I met Vikki. We established Nelson Taylor together in 2007 and haven’t looked back since!

My hobbies & interests:
I graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2001 with a degree in Interior Architecture. I have always been interested in the creative use of design and colour and love the challenge of re-organising interior spaces. I worked for various designers and architects and when I met Calvin at a design company in London, our approach was so similar that it was a natural progression for us to launch Nelson Taylor.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US
We hired Vikki and Calvin to design and build a wall unit for our living room. The brief was for a built in unit for cupboards, books and TV. What we got was an amazing bespoke piece of furniture that was not only beautiful to look at but also enhances the room and blended with it's surroundings. Great people to work with, fantastic ideas and amazing attention to detail.

We hired Nelson Taylor to extend a central island and replace a breakfast bar in our kitchen. Calvin was the only person willing to take on our project and he did a great job! We are really happy with the result. He was creative, flexible, with great attention to detail, and very patient every time I changed my mind! It was a fairly small but quite particular project because it was a retrofit and Calvin put in lots of time, energy and even physical work to make sure it was just right. Highly recommend.

I gave Nelson Taylor a challenging project; to create bespoke furniture for a circular building. The cabinetry was minimal in design so required a lot of attention to detail in order to achieve a perfect look. Nelson Taylor carried out site surveys, produced construction drawings for approval, manufactured and installed, to a high standard.

Having seen their clean cut design lines at my neighbour's I hired Nelson Taylor to install a Shaker style kitchen plus some bedroom/bathroom wardrobes and cupboards and I am delighted with the finished product. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they even made and installed beautiful Edwardian double doors into my garden. I constantly recommend them to friends.

Having had a few quotes and designs from other companies I approached Nelson Taylor to design my kitchen and utility area. They listen and took on board all my (many!) requirements and made the design process very enjoyable. The reason we chose to use Nelson Taylor was because the units had to be designed to fit our space precisely. Not what would fit from the catalogue products available - as per the high street brands I had visited. Ours is a unique and beautiful kitchen that utilises all space available to it's best ability. Nelson Taylor achieved this while carefully listening to our requirements. I would happily recommend Nelson Taylor to anyone looking for a bespoke and beautiful solution.

We commissioned Nelson Taylor in 2015 to draw up designs, provide costings, submit plans and project manage the build of a single storey extension to our Victorian, 4 storey semi detached property. As part of the project we engaged NT to design, build and fit a kitchen as well as the furniture in a new boot room and WC.
The design process was totally collaborative. Vikki and Calvin listened to our requirements and ideas and showed patience and understanding throughout.
They completed all the necessary paperwork and submissions to obtain planning permission.
In discussion with us they sourced all the professionals who worked on the project, and they dealt with them on a day to day basis.
Our main builder was always polite and communicative when we saw him on site, and considerate of our neighbours. We lived (camped!) in the property throughout the build, but were confident enough to go away at various times knowing that progress would continue as planned.
Inevitably in a project with a £100,000+ final cost there were a few unexpected hitches. We were consulted at every stage of any changes to the build, and every cost implication was explained and we were given options re how we could proceed. Slight delays, whilst a source of frustration at the time, were at least explained and we were never left thinking that nobody was listening to us or trying to meet our requests.
We could not be happier with the final result. We have not had any problems with the new building or the fixtures and fittings – everything works as it should. A couple of design features suggested by Calvin and Vikki have proved to be some of our favourite elements of the extension.
Very happy to provide references / discuss our experience if required.
